We just stayed there during Christmas. We enjoyed it! The views of the creek and mountains were beautiful! There was construction in the lodge area, but it was okay; we had no issues with it since we spent our days out.
I did wish the shuttle service and amenities were available on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so we could take advantage of them, but we couldn't, so we went into town. Breakfast was disappointing, that is the area they need to improve. Overall, it was a great place to stay, and I'm sure after the renovations, it's going to look even better. We will be back!

We thought it would be a nice place to stay especially since it’s a part of the state park. The place looks nice, but they never answer their phones. We checked into the room, and they left the smallest bit of toilet paper on the holder. If you’re going to clean the room, then maybe replenish stuff as well? The vent was also super dusty in the bathrooms. Looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. Also, apparently our room keys don’t work, and they were even rekeyed. The sweet housekeeper had to walk back down and have them checked. Turns out the keys worked sometimes. Because when the maintenance person came they somehow worked. I would only choose this place if there is nowhere else to stay.
1 star for the the decent rooms and 1 star for the super sweet housekeeper.
Also there are no elevators in the lodge. so be prepared for stairs.

I am very disappointed and don't usually write reviews but I truly need some answers. My wife and I came to the Helen GA area for a mini-vacation. Being thanksgiving we knew finding a place to eat would be challenging. This is why we were so excited to learn of the thanksgiving buffet at the lodge. We made reservations over a month prior to our trip and received a confirmation we were booked for 230 pm. At no time were we advised to come in early to check in or that there maybe an overly long wait. When we arrived about 215 there were cars literally lined up almost to park entrance. I was like no worries we have a reservation. I asked my wife to go in to check in while I find a place to park no matter how far I had to park. She contacted me as I was leaving to pick her up and she would explain in the car. When she got in she said the line to check in was over an hour long wait and again the line to check in stretched completely around the interior of the restaurant and back to the front entrance. My question is what is exactly the point of making a reservation a month out to not be able to get in. We wound up eating dinner at a huddle house. If there is a process to check in early that should have been made abundantly clear which as I said before it wasn't. This made a fun trip very disappointed as we were both looking forward to this dinner/buffet.

I can't express how grateful my family and I are for this place. You came to our rescue when we were broke down on the side of the road at the lake down the way. You treated us like family. You made my birthday extra special even though we were in a rough situation. The staff here is amazing the lodge is beautiful. You also have such an amazing and caring maintenance crew and hospitality staff. We couldn't ask for anybody better and the fact that you actually came down to help us off the side of the road, was unforgettable. I want to thank all the employees maintenance staff, restaurant, employees and manager everyone that got together to help us.
Thank you so much from the Atwood family!
Special thanks to:

Really great place to stay. The lodges are well maintained and impressive to look at. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Lots of activities to do in the area. The room was so/so but this is a lodge not a luxury hotel. My only complaint would be that the bathroom had a vent but no apparent fan so there was a decent amount of rust on some of the metal fixtures. Would absolutely recommend staying here if you are planning on doing any outdoor adventures while in the area.

We stayed in campsite #5. Patty at the check-in office was awesomely efficient and friendly. She’s a great ambassador for the park. The site was clean and easy to find with adequate spacing and privacy. THE COMFORT STATION for Little Brook Spur is a complete disaster. The exterior lighting is powered with an extension cord joined to some type of residential wiring with no conduit or junction box. The women’s side has an extension cord taped to the outlet above the sink and running back outside before entering another door. The showers were filthy. The sink faucet fixture was partially detached from its mount. Tiles were loose or missing. Toilet stalls had plywood doors with graffiti and a challenging latch. This park is in a premium location, and it’s disappointing to see the poor condition of this comfort station.

Room is great, staff members are helpful and friendly. It has wonderful trails. We took the lake trail around the lake and Helen trail to main street Helen. Free shuttle back to the lodge. Breakfast is very disappointing, though. Breakfast buffet with very limited items, no juice or milk, no cereal on the Sunday buffet we had. We would definitely consider staying here again when visiting Helen.

We had a great weekend camping here. We tent camped where the RVs parked so we had access to bathrooms, electricity and running water. The properties were all well maintained and the bathrooms were even heated. We hiked a total of 17 miles and still had more to explore.
There is still lots of damage from the storm but thankfully the park has kept the paths cleared very well and it didn’t distract from the experience.
One of the highlights was being able to hike to downtown Helen for dinner one night.
Will definitely come back to try out more trails.
