Ein super interessantes Museum! Die Mitarbeiter sind auch sehr nett. Man lernt viel über die Geschichte von Detroit. Das Museum ist sehr modern gestaltet. Es gibt viel zum Mitmachen und auch viele Videos, sodass es überhaupt nicht langweilig ist. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen. Unser Highlight: einmal im Model T sitzen ?
Plant auf jeden Fall mindestens 3-4 Stunden ein!

Als Tourist kann ich jedem empfehlen das Museum zu besuchen. Man bekommt sehr viel über Detroit mit. Es ist auch sehr schön aufgebaut, sodass man alles super versteht. Man kann hier, wenn man alle Details sich anschaut, einen halben Tag verbringen. Wer nur alles schnell durchguckt, braucht vermutlich nur 1 Std. Das Parken kostet 9 Dollar. Das Ticket selbst kostet 10 Dollar. Es gibt Tage, wo das Museum kostenlos ist. Aber 10 Dollar lohnen sich trotzdem zu bezahlen.

Ein schönes Museum, wenn man bei einem Businesstrip auch noch was über Detroit wissen möchte. Noch dazu ist der Eintritt kostenlos. Es wird die Geschichte der Entstehung der Stadt erklärt. Ich fand es sehr interessant.

I would have to say this is by far one of my favorite museums!! There is so much of Detroit's history on display. Maybe it's not as exciting for everyone who has not lived in Michigan their whole life. Everything at this museum is so relevant and brings back some nostalgia when it comes to when certain companies really made a name for themselves or even started doing business for that matter. I highly recommend you check this place out if you love history, but even more so if you were born and raised somewhere around the Detroit area!! They had a nice little event going on outside during our visit as well.

This is a robust museum with curators that clearly care. The ”old Detroit.” Exhibit in the basement is interesting, though it feels a little Disneylandesque. It really would
Have been better with a docent on a tour. It took a lot to put it together, and I don’t imagine the average museum-goer is going to pick up on so much detail.
The rest of the museum has a number of great displays. If you’re into Detroit history, then this is the place for you.

One of the highlights of our visit was the underground floor, where there’s a stunning replica of old Detroit streets. Walking through this area feels like stepping back in time, and it’s amazing to see the city’s history brought to life so vividly. My son and I were particularly fascinated by the attention to detail in the storefronts and the overall atmosphere—it’s truly an immersive experience.

Throughout the museum, there are several other exhibits that showcase Detroit’s vibrant history, from its industrial roots to its role in the Civil Rights Movement. We enjoyed viewing the various artifacts, such as the vintage hats and china, which give a glimpse into the everyday life of Detroiters in the past. The displays about the iconic lunch counters and the Civil Rights Movement were particularly powerful, highlighting the significant role Detroit played in this crucial chapter of American history.

We also came across a meticulously recreated old-fashioned dentist’s office, which added an interesting, and somewhat eerie, touch to our tour. It’s little details like these that make the museum not only educational but also a lot of fun to explore.

Overall, the Detroit Historical Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning more about the city’s rich and diverse history. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this museum offers a deep dive into what makes Detroit such a unique and resilient city. We highly recommend it for families, history buffs, and anyone who enjoys a well-curated museum experience.
